Great!

A joint project with my kid sister's school. We're helping out 200 families this year! Wow! It's nice having to help out. I'm really happy of the response we're getting.
Thanks guys!

Next year, I hope to start a group to empower women in the rural areas. Yahey!

2007 Wishlist

I have no wishlist this year. My relatives and friends know that instead of giving me gifts, I'd rather have them donate to a charitable institution. I've been blessed this year. I'm paying it forward.

There's just this one thing though. He knows what I want.

Life is good...

What Tweens Want

According to Dictionary.com,
a tween is defined as a youngster between 10 and 12 years of age, considered too old to be a child and too young to be a teenager.
Which makes gift-giving a little tricky because they know what they want but some are kinda' pricey. Which leads us to some interesting gift ideas. The catch is ,they are not available locally though. Sorry!

1. Custom- made Dolls: Create a miniature version of yourself. Almost everything's practically customized nowadays, why not create a mini- me?
Tiny Pocket People lets consumers personalize an 8” (14 cm) soft tiny body doll based on customers uploaded picture. Everything from shoe color to clothes can be customized. So next time, instead of carrying a photograph of a loved one, you can have him or her peeking out of your pocket. Cool!

2. Stuffed Dooddle: Transform your doodles to a real doll! Stuff your Doodles makes soft toys using a doodle as the design. It is recreated with recycled materials, stuffed and sent back to you. How unique can that get???

3. Nyokki pet planters: Nyokki Pets feature one of five happy animal faces on the side of an egg shaped planter. The grass seeds inside grow to full-height in around two weeks, you can then style it or cut it off and watch it grow back. I think I've seen one of these in 168 Divisoria.

4. Barbie MP3 player: Toy maker Mattel just finished a “makeover” for one of the style icons of all time - Barbie. The inclusion of an MP3 player and virtual world avatar in the doll shaped player is one of the newest addition to the Barbie family. Another great addition to the family is BarbieGirls.com is a site where kids can create their own virtual Barbie doll and even take it to the virtual mall!

Do your share

Since late last year, I have been consciously asking for less plastic whenever I buy things in malls, groceries, that convenience store in the corner, practically anywhere! I get this questioning look whenever I decline a plastic bag offered me. So I simply say, "Sayang po kasi yung plastic bag." Then I immediately ask for a receipt just in case. Funny how a lot of us simply don't understand the harm plastic does to Mother Nature. And how much these stores could save from the costs of purchasing plastic bags for their merchandise. Oh well, that all together is a different story.

Then came a string of endless campaigns and merchandise that promote reusable bags. Bazura bags (made from doy packs) is one example. They started really small. Now they have ventured to making not only bags but aprons, slippers, and accessories too! The organization is now making waves in Euopre & Australia. Wow! Now aren't you proud to be Pinoy?

If I remember correctly, SM Supermarket together with Unilever Philippines was one of the big companies who started this reusable bags campaign on a large-scale basis. The initial response was lukewarm but as other bigwigs like Rustan's, The Body Shop,Healthy Options ,etc.followed suit, people started to notice.

If you want to do your part, buy reusable bags. Locally, we have different organizations who produce reusable bags. Choose an organization you wish to support, and help save our lovely Earth!

Headband Revival

Remember your childhood days when you wore that candy pink headband? Memories huh? Well, headbands are making a comeback! With a twist of course! Indie-style. Think 50s "Alice" bands when its main purpose was to keep your hair in place while jumping around in outdoor concerts was the in thing! Today, making a fashionable mess of your hair is key. Acheive an overall effect that exudes a rocker/indie sensibility with an accessory that is not hippy, but more modern and sleek. Coolness! Chain link headbands and satin sashes are your best bet. Check 'em out!

Juicy Couture Laptop Sleeve

Now this is what I want for Christmas! I'm trying my very best not to ask my cousin to have one shipped home. This just literally screams haute . The protective designer coverings are made from embroidered velour fabric with faux leather. Two pockets are inside the Juicy Couture sleeve dubbed the “Classic.” At $95, the price is reasonable for a designer computer bag. It comes in Espresso/Bronze and Sky/Pink. This has the WOW factor! I wish Rustan's will have a couple of these in store. Puhleeezz??!!
